Where to buy a home in Squamish.....
Well, now that is a very loaded question!! I can not go over it all in one post for all of the diverse criterion of very buyer I meet. However, I will cover 3 things that have a bigger impact in Squamish than anywhere else.
1. The Train and Highway = Noise
When looking for property in Squamish, it is important to know whether being near the train will bother you. The rail line runs right down the middle of Squamish, along with the highway. While the highway is more white noise, depending on your proximity to a turn in the tracks or a crossing, the train can be quite disruptive for some. That being said, we have sold many homes along the tracks and the clients are very happy and not at all sleep-deprived. The crossing situation is a little worse if the crossing is uncontrolled as the engineer is required to give 3 strong blasts of the horn at this type of crossing. also important to consider is whether there is a tree buffer between the tracks and your property and whether there is a rockface behind your home. The rock face can cause the sound to bounce right back at your house. Keep all of this in mind
2. Sun and shade in Squamish
For years, people used to say that Valleycliffe didn't get much sun. However, after 18 years in Squamish, I now know that this is not completely true. Just like any other area in Squamish, be it Brackendlae or the Highlands, for example, there are areas in each locale that recieve less sun than some others. Knowing where the sun rises and sets and how ow it gets in the sky relative to old grown trees and mountain tops can be critical to you finding a property that is bright and sunny enough for your liking, and your vegetable garden
Each neighbourhood in Squamish has it's own unique vibe. From the rural, laid back neighbourly feel in one community to the prestige of other areas, the feel of each community can be vastly different. Get to know the neighbourhoods. Spend some time in the ones you are interested in and walk around and talk to people and see how they like living there. This will be the best 2-hour investment you can make when purchasing a property.
Happy house hunting
